New year's resolve
I rarely do this, but I’m feeling in the mood for making some resolutions for this particular new year.
With big family changes, and new home and the small matter of going freelance, a lot of things are changing in 2010. The joy of having this blog is that I can publish them, challenge myself to actually live up to them, not quietly forget about them. So, here goes.
1. Exercise.
I want to be fitter by the end of this year than I am at the start of it. I’m conscious of the potential for working freelance to mean that I spend more time than ever hunched over a laptop, working much longer hours, so I’m committing myself to taking proper, structured excercise regularly this year. Don’t care what it is – running, swimming, cycling. But I’ve got to do it.
2. Drive.
I’ve never driven, and having spent my live living in big cities, really haven’t had much need to. But, with the prospect of having a couple of kids in tow later this year, I really need to now. And not expertly procrastinating about it.
3. Cook.
I love food and good cooking, but I confess that I’m pathetic in the kitchen. No more. By the end of the year, I want to have a decent base of staple dishes that I can confidently reel off on a regular basis.
Just the three. I think that’s manageable and do-able. Let’s see…
